going out with a bang: an AMAZING year

Simply put, 2012 was an amazing year here at Blossom Sweet.  We had more events in 2012 than in any year previous, and the events we did have were beyond-words-beautiful.  Wow, we often catch ourselves speechless looking back over the past year and what it has brought to our studio.

And we are closing out this wonderful year with a BANG!  We first have large event at a lovely ski resort this weekend, and to top that off we have a Park City destination elopement on New Year's Eve followed by a mountain-top ceremony for yet another bride on New Year's Day.  What a GREAT end to a great year, and promising start to what is sure to be another year of showstopping weddings.  We can think of no better way to end one year and begin another!

So as we say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013, we want to thank you all for your continuous support of Blossom Sweet, our art, and our passion.  We also want to announce that we have some very exciting things going on in January so you will want to check the blog on a very consistent basis after the New Year!  Until then...

Happy New Year!

special order: christmas statement piece

While we don't typically take on "everyday" design requests, we do occasionally create large-scale custom orders.  Each December for the past several years we've created a holiday piece for the birthday of a client's wife.  We are given creative reign with these designs which makes creating them such a joy (not to mention that the recipient is the sweetest soul)!  This year the husband wanted us to do something using his kitchen light as a base.  So, we got our creative juices flowing and below is a photo of what we came up with.

**disclaimer, this is a phone pic so please excuse the poor quality

We loved, loved, loved designing this piece which hangs above the kitchen table.  Not gonna lie, it was pretty fun to use a lot more glitter than we do in our typical events... which amount (with a few exceptions) is usually close to zero.  :)

winter wedding wreaths

We had two weddings this past weekend, one of which had these two winter wreaths hanging at the entryway.  So gorgeous!  We would love if every bride chose to include fresh wreaths - they really make a statement and add so much to the atmosphere of an event.  Just wanted to share a sneak peek.

Elements used in wreath:  cedar, blueberry cedar, pine, holly, spray roses, garden roses, aster, hypericum berries, pepperberry, and winterberry.

nichole + cole

We love getting the emails from our clients when they share their love stories for a blog spotlight!  It is so fun to read all about the back-story behind our events.  In our work it's exciting that everything we book comes from a place of l'amoure.

We enjoyed reading Nichole + Cole's responsesThey are such a cute couple and their love for each other is apparent.  We are so excited for their beautiful winter event which takes place this weekend.  Enjoy their spotlight!

How did you meet?
After I returned from my mission, I was invited to speak in several wards in our stake.  I spoke in Cole's home ward.  After the meeting, Cole's mother approached me and said, "I never do this, but I would like you to go out with my son."  I gave her my phone number and he called and asked me out.

What did you do for your first date?
For our first date, we went on a short hike to a waterfall.

What are your favorite qualities about each other?
She says:  Cole is kind.  He is constantly serving others, including me.  He asks me every day, "What can I do for you today?"  He is very patient with me.  He is humble and teachable.  He is intelligent and hard-working.  If Cole sees that there is work to be done, he jumps in to do it without being asked.

He says:  Nichole is beautiful, on the inside and out.  She is personable, giving, intelligent, and hard-working.  She is trendy and lovely.

Tell us a little bit about your event design concept.
I never imagined having a winter wedding.  I always planned to have a spring wedding with pastel colors.  When I realized that we would wed in the winter, I decided that I wanted to nod to the season, but still incorporate the pastel colors that I love.  As I met with Melissa of Blossom Sweet and discussed my vision, we decided to take a modern vintage approach.  We decided to use clean lines and elegant flowers, with a whimsical palette of ivory, bright winter reds, soft pink, and mint.

Who said "I love you" first?
I wanted to tell Cole that I loved him, but I was a bit frightened to say it first.  One evening, I was telling him about something mundane.  He said, "I love y-it.  I love it.  I love that you do that."  I knew he was ready to say those three special words.  The next night, I put on my favorite outfit and a charming smile.  He said, "I love you."  I was speechless when he said it, even though I was hoping for it and expecting it.  I had no idea how it would make me feel.  The love that I felt for him grew stronger.

How did he propose?
Cole and I had planned to go to his family reunion together.  I was looking forward to the trip, especially after a long stressful week.  When he came to pick me up, I had my bags packed and ready to go.  He came in and asked, "Do you have everything you need for our trip."  I assured him that I did.  He said, "Are you positive, I don't want you to forget anything."  I said, "Yes, I have everything."  He was not picking up my bags, so I grabbed my bags and headed out the door.  I quickly realized that he was not following me.  I turned back around and went inside.  I found him on one knee with the ring box open.  He said, "You are forgetting this."  He asked me to marry him.  I was speechless (which never happens to me).  It took me a long time to respond, but I finally whispered "yes."

december's photo of the month

Happy December and Happy Holidays to all!  As this is the last month of the year, it is naturally a time of reflection, and we've been reflecting as of late upon all of our amazing clients and events this year!  So for this month's "photo of the month," we decided to feature one of our favorite portrait bouquets, along with a testimonial/thank you email we received from this particular bride shortly following her wedding, in which she called Blossom Sweet her "dream-come-true-er."  She actually sent TWO separate thank you emails, so we'll share the second one with you once we post the wedding (can't wait for you to see it!).  Enjoy.

"I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for making my wedding dreams complete!  I can't even express to you how perfectly you carried out my vision and even went beyond to make my wedding even more beautiful than I could have possibly imagined or planned.  I recently got a picture of me and my bouquet that a family friend had snapped on their cell phone and was just taken aback at how stunning those flowers were.  I knew they were beautiful on the wedding day, I wished I could have had a year to enjoy them in their full beauty! That picture was just a confirmation of how stunning they were, I can't wait to get all of my pictures back from the photographer!

You are truly an artist and, for me, a dream-come-true-er. What a fun job to be able to be surrounded by such beauty AND make so many brides happy.  Congrats on finding something in your life that is so completing!  That is rare.  Best of luck in everything!

Thank you, thank you again."
