blossom sweet in salt lake park city bride & groom

Disclaimer: this post should be titled "better late than never," because we should have posted this a long time ago!  Please bear with our busy-ness.

Salt Lake / Park City Bride & Groom Magazine is a wonder in the local wedding world.  It is a gorgeous publication and we were so honored to be asked to be a part of the floral spread for their Winter/Spring issue which came out in January.  Seeing as the Summer/Fall issue is coming out any day now (and my oh my we are excited to see it), we figured it would be a good time to post about our work that has been featured in the magazine over the past six months.

We were asked to come up with a color palette based upon the "color blocking" trend seen all over the fashion world.  As for the specific blooms, the magazine requested that we select flowers which we felt spoke to a "Utah" theme.  That being the case, we chose colors and flowers based upon our interpretation of the summer wildflowers found locally in the mountains along the Wasatch Front.

Drumroll please... here is our color palette:

And here is the result which can be seen in a full-page spread in the current issue:

jacqueline + adam

We do so love a good love story around here, and today we have a client who has graciously decided to share her love story with us in a spotlight of sorts.  Enjoy!

How did you meet?

It all started back in June of 2007. Adam got back from the mission and all the girls wanted to date him. But it wasn't working out very well so he decided to go down to Dallas to visit a good friend of his and also avoid an awkward situation with a wedding reception.  On his way down, he went to Zara and loaded up on gorgeous clothes. When he got to his friend Seth's house, there was a big group of people there, one of whom was Jacqueline. When they first saw each other, he thought "Wow, Seth did good!  But too bad she's taken!" and Jacqueline thought, "Wow, tall, dark and handsome. Too bad I'm taken!" After a night of crazy fun, pictures, and broken glasses and furniture, Adam finally returned home to Oklahoma and neither of them thought anything of it.
A few weeks later, Facebook came out with this crazy thing called Facebook Chat and this little box kept popping up on Adam's screen. As they chatted, they found out more about each other and Adam found out that she had broken up with his good friend! After chatting every day for a week, Jax finally said, "Here is my number, just call me!" and they have talked basically every day since then!
Tell us about your first date:

After more chatting, Adam flew out to Dallas to see Jax for their first official date. They went to Fort Worth and had dinner at the Lone Star Cafe with her parents; the best $12.00 filet mignon in town - Jax's parents both swear by it! Then after dinner was over they crossed the street to get ice cream and split up from her parents. While walking around down town, this charming man stopped and offered Jax a free rose, but only if Adam would kiss her. Adam turned and looked at Jax and she grabbed him, lunged in and planted a huge kiss on his lips (a sore sight to see and really uncoordinated). The man gave her "a beautiful rose for a beautiful girl" and then asked for a donation, but Adam had no cash (only his card) so the guy took it back. After that it was awkward for a minute or two.  But after that first kiss, we were officially dating and it broke the ice for the many kisses to come.

What are your favorite qualities about each other?

About him:  His big, beautiful blue eyes and humorous personality; he's always playing around or making me smile! We bring out the goofiness and weirdness in each other and it totally fits together!

About her:  Her eyes and crazy personality, and her ability to never give up and keep going to reach her goals and desires in life!

About them:  Our favorite quote that sums us up is:  "We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."  -Dr. Seuss

How did he propose?

On our Christmas Break Adam and I were in Texas for a week visiting family and friends and having a blast!  On December 22, 2011 - a beautiful, sunny day - he took me on a series of our first dates!  It all started out with a cute little picnic of Einstein sandwich bagels and sparkling grape cider. We went to a children's park and ate, then we fed the ducks... even though they ran from us!   Right after the park he drove me to the lake where we once sat and read scriptures and talked for hours watching the sun rise. He took me to the same rocks where we cuddled and talked of the future and he told me how much he loved me. Then he romantically kissed me and while he was kissing me he went to hold my hand. However, what I didn't know was he had intertwined the ring onto my finger and I gasped!  Then before I knew what was going on, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him for eternity!  I said YES!  I can't wait for forever with my Addie!

red butte wedding preview

As we mentioned a few posts back, we'll be sharing small previews of our recent work (don't even get us started on how behind we are on posting LAST year's events...).

The following images are of the bouquet of one of our May brides.  It turned out to be quite the spring beauty, as was her wedding as a whole!  And of course the color palette looked amazing combined with Red Butte's stunning wisteria display.  We've been loving working up there a lot lately.

One thing we loved about this bouquet was that the bride chose to make it stand out.  The color palette of the entire wedding included shades of ivory, yellow, purple, and green, but the bride added a pop of pink just to her bouquet to make it extra special.  What a great thought that was!

We actually had back to back weddings with Ravenberg Photography this particular weekend - one on Friday and one on Saturday.  Good thing we sorta like each other and each others work!  Okay, maybe a little more than sorta.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Ranunculus (yellow + pink), ruffled edge roses, peonies, lisianthus, sweet peas (white + pink), silver brunia, and stock (purple + buttercream).  Finished with a yellow satin wrap with a lace overlay and jeweled pins.

We are having a June Promotion!  Spread the word and share this coupon with your friends who are getting married.  It's a steal of a deal that ends June 30th.

It was several weeks ago when we decided to try our hand at a promotion of sorts, so we commissioned the creative genius behind Kortney Eggertz Design to create a coupon for us.  Do you know Kortney?  If not... you should!  She is an extremely talented (not to mention totally hip) stationer/graphic designer who up until now has been seeing muchas success in the Southern Utah wedding market where her company is located.  But guess what?  She's taking the show on the road and COMING TO THE SALT LAKE AREA!  So to all brides 'round these parts, it is your lucky day.  Her style is clean, crisp, sophisticated, and professional.  One of our favorites of Kortney's designs can be seen HEREGorgeous.

And last but not least... happy June, everyone.  Let's just make this pretty picture our photo-of-the-month.
