{out of office}

A few items of business for today's post:

1. First and foremost, I will be out of town from this morning, June 28, until next Sunday, July 5.
I'm headed to Lake Powell and as I won't have access to phone or internet I want to make sure all of you know I won't be returning calls or emails for the next week. (But what I will do is have a blast and get super tan!)

2. Today is my one year anniversary of blogging. One year and nearly ten thousand hits later, not too shabby! I love the world of blogging.

3. Those two weddings I designed for this weekend...yeah...stunners. Can't wait til I get some pics to share with you guys! Both were pretty high on my list of favorite weddings I've done- they turned out gorgeous!

4. Happy Fourth of July! In honor of the holiday enjoy a few photos of last week's giveaway prize which April won. It was great to meet you, April! So glad you found my blog- hope you keep visiting Blossom Sweet!

{fathers are so special}

In my opinion, which may or may not be biased, I have the best dad in the world. I'm serious. I don't know how I got so lucky to be blessed with such great parents, but the fact is I did. I've learned to recognize that few have such good fortune in the department of parental units. I don't know what I'd do without my dad, and wanted to pay tribute to his goodness with a Father's Day post.

Here are a few photos of my dad through the years:

This is my all-time favorite photo of my dad, taken in Delta, UT on the farm where he grew up. Look at the details- this boy was stylin'! Gloves, bandana, hat, boots- he had the works.
Don't really know...don't really want to know? Pretty sure it's Dad in High School.Dad and I @ Myrtle Beach 2005Happy Father's Day! Love you, Dad!

P.S. I'll be posting the giveaway winner Monday or Tuesday, keep an eye out!

{give me a giveaway!}

We had June's class a couple of weeks ago, but I have been so busy that I hadn't yet posted the giveaway! So, we're going to combine June & July into one.

For the last class, we created Summer arrangements.

Design elements included:
mason jars
premium alstromeria in various bright hues
key limes

The arrangements turned out beautifully. I fell in love with mason jars on my mission- in the South they are used for everything from vases to drinking glasses... and so much more! They have become a staple in my everyday designs and I find them charming in a country/Americana way.

Since the giveaways for June/July are combined, we're going to modify the prize to fit the 4th of July. Instead of key limes, we'll be using cherries and instead of bright alstro, we'll be using white flowers. It's gonna be darlin'!

To enter this month's giveaway, submit your answers to the following questions. Those who answer at least 2 out of 3 correctly will be entered into a drawing for the prize.

1. In what year was Fourth of July officially declared a national holiday by Congress?
2. How many signatures appeared on the Declaration of Independence?
3. Which two presidents, both of whom signed the Declaration of Independence, died on the Fourth of July in 1826?

I'll wait to post your answers/comments until I announce the winner, so that you all have to find your own answers. :)

*
please keep in mind that due to the nature of the prize, the intended recipient must live in the Provo/Orem area or else the prize must be picked up in Provo*

{grab our button...for real this time}

For the past few months I've received several requests for a blog "button". So, I've finally decided to design one for myself. I created three versions: sage, pink, and olive. From here on out each version will be displayed and available on my sidebar, but I thought I'd officially announce them with a post.
If you're interested in posting a button on your blog, please do so! Need a how to? No prob.

1. First, copy the link found below the button on my sidebar {in between the facebook tab and playlist}. Choose either the link to the sage, pink, or olive.
2. Then, click on "customize" at the top right corner of your blog.
3. Go to the "layout" section, and click on "add a gadget".
4. A list of options will come up, choose the option of "html/javascript".
5. Simply paste the link, and click "save".

Voila! You're done. Now that button will automatically link here.
{The actual button is the size shown on the sidebar}
Thanks, lovelies!

P.S. I'll be posting the next giveaway sometime in the next couple of days, be sure to watch for it!
