{hurry up and wait}

My goodness, has it really been a week since I posted? I guess that's what happens when your internet stops working. But, I'm still here and still busy as ever. Coming up next week, I have both a wedding and a bridal session to design for. And just whose bridals are they...

...my little Jess! I have to admit I'm pretty excited for this girl to get hitched. Jess is one of my close friends and is getting married in June. Her bridals are next week and I can't wait! Your bouquet will be so pretty, Jess, and obviously so will you!

You may recognize her as one of the bridesmaids from this wedding about this time last year:
Love you, Jess! See you next week!

{desi & tyler @ market street grill}

Desi and Tyler are getting married today at Market Street downtown. The design style Desi was going for is "nature's elegance". I think we achieved that!

I obviously didn't get photos of everything, but enjoy a few snapshots:

{if i gave you pretty flowers}

I heard this song last night, and thought it was so cute! It's more of a bluegrass/country feel so if that's not your thing, you probably won't like it. I, however, happen to love it! Enjoy.

lyrics:
If I gave you pretty flowers
If I took you out to dinner
If we walked on by the river
Would you invite me in

If we sat down on the sofa
If I told you funny stories
If I moved a little closer
Would you put your hand in mine

If told you, you were lovely
If I put my arm around you
If I touched you on the shoulder
Would you rest your head on mine

If I took you out to dinner
If I moved a little closer
And I touched you on the shoulder would you make love to me

Oh my darling I have loved you since you took me out to dinner
Since we walked down by the river over 30 years ago
When you told me that you loved me I hadn’t felt so lovely
Since the day I decided that I would marry you

Well I took you out to dinner
And I told you funny stories
And I moved a little closer
And you made love to me

If I gave you pretty flowers
If I took you out to dinner
If we walked down by the river la la la la la la la

{new ad- want one?}

I mentioned several posts back that I had some new ads made*. I LOVE them! They are gorgeous and high quality. The ad was designed by Alan, who was married a couple of weeks ago to Michele (see her bouquet here). He did such a great job and I highly recommend him! See his site here. He's actually working on another project for me right now- watch for it soon!

size of new ad cards- 8.5" x 5.5"

Hope you like it as much as I do!
*If any of you are interested in having one or more of these ads (for free of course), leave a comment letting me know and I'll mail them to you asap.

{nuptial nook- bridal shower cake}

Let's do a little math:

12 cupcakes
+ one 8" round cake
...put them together and what have you got?...

= one super cute bridal shower cake!

I made this cake for my mom this Mother's Day. Her favorite color is blue. I think it would work perfectly for a bridal shower because it's very girly and also goes well with a wedding theme. Plus... it is SO easy- it only takes one cake mix!

HERE'S THE HOW TO:
1. Whip up 1 cake mix of your choice.
2. Use half the batter for 12 cupcakes, and the other half for an 8" round.
3. Bake according to directions and then cool completely in refrigerator.
4. Frost with icing of your choice
...what are the brides wedding colors? frosting to match? just a thought...
5. Keep frosted cake and cupcakes separated and refrigerated until just before guests arrive.
6. Tier cupcakes on top of 8" round as follows:
.one.
....four....

.......seven.......

6. Decorate with accessories of your choice
(I used yellow beads and artificial flowers. SO easy!)
7. Voila! Enjoy your super cute, super yummy cake!

{mother i love you, mother i do}

My mother is my best friend, simple as that. I am the oldest of six children in my family, and the only girl! That being said, my mom and I have always been extremely close. Even if moms came custom-ordered, I couldn't possibly do any better than the mom I already have. She is selfless, hard-working, full of love for everyone around her, funny, smart, a leader, completely in love with my dad, and let's not forget she's smokin hot! Enjoy a few photos that will prove my last statement.

This is my favorite picture of my mom as a little girl. Lovely little Melanie Kate.

Couple of hotties, I say.

Courtesy of 1990...CLASSIC. I still remember this day! We've always been little buddies.
I love you, Mom!

I also wanted to give a small tribute to the other 'mothers' in my life, both of my dear grandmothers.

My beautiful Nannie on her wedding day. Born and bred Southern, my Nannie and Papa met and dated in an area of South Carolina which was in my mission boundaries. Special, huh! I sure do love my Southern Nannie!
And last but certainly not least, my gorgeous Grandma Nickle. I just love her to bits and she is such a good example to me. This week I was supposed to copy a photo from her wedding but unfortunately she has been sick all week and so I couldn't get it in time. I will post it as soon as I get it! Feel better, Grandma!
♥HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!♥

{i ♥ creative freedom}

It's true, I do love it when I get to design whatever my little heart desires. And I got to put my creativity to use today in a special Mother's Day/20th Anniversary arrangement. Yep, the cute couple's 20th anniversary falls on Mother's Day this year. How appropriate for this mother of five! Thanks, Troy, and hope you loved it, Tracy!

{nuptial nook- something old}

First off, congratulations to
Kaylee,
(who incidentally is one of my past brides!)
you're the winner of the Mother's Day giveaway!

With Mother's Day coming up this week, I've been very reflective on the women who have shaped my life (post on said wonder women coming soon). As I've been reflecting, I thought it would be a good idea to bring the past into the present with this week's nook.

Oftentimes, I think elements of the fashions of the past mix beautifully with modern style. How fantastic would it be to incorporate your mother's/grandmother's:

shoes,
veil,
clutch,
brooch,
or locket with photos from their weddings into yours?

love love LOVE love love.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas! I'd love to hear additional "something old" ideas, let me know your thoughts!
