{jessica's april wedding}

Jessica and Kalle were married last April and she just recently sent me some of her pictures taken outside the Timpanogos Temple. Thanks, Jessica!
It was a very cold and very windy day, but her pics turned out pretty! Enjoy!

{who's your daddy?}

Let me tell you a story- a story of a great dad and the miraculous things he can pull off.
The magazine came off the press today (Thursday) and looks great! I'm SO excited! It goes on store shelves tomorrow (Friday), but... that is not the miracle. The miracle is that I wasn't expecting the magazine to come out until mid-January and just found out this afternoon that it would be in mailboxes throughout UT Valley as of tomorrow. Aaahhh! I hadn't begun to update my website yet. I figured I had until at least the end of December!
Enter my dad. I went home to my family's house around 7 pm and I am just now getting back to my place at 5 am. With absolutely no notice, my dad helped me revamp, remodel, and basically redo my website ALL NIGHT. (Well, I say that he helped me, but really, it was more like me getting the portfolio pictures ready for him for a few hours and then watching a chick flick providing moral support while he did the hard stuff!) So, needless to say I use the term 'help' loosely. :)
Anyway, the miracle is that

And it looks great. It is basically the same concept as what we had before, but even more great! Check it out! I think you guys will really like it.
So here's a shout out to my dad, and to all the dads who wish they were as good as my dad. Love you, pops.

*disclaimer: I am not sad about the magazine coming out early, I am ecstatic! Ultra surprised, but ecstatic!*

*disclaimer #2: it kind of works that the only pic on my computer I have of my dad is of him and my mom in their christmas color coordinated shirts. 'tis the season*

{a little bit of sister love}

In the ward I live in, I'm one of the enrichment committee members and I just started up a monthly floral class for the sisters. We did our first class last week and made Fall arrangements in pumpkins. We had 17 sisters attend the class and it was a lot of fun!

Check out these cute girls! They did really well! Especially considering it was their first class, huh?

I actually had fun hollowing out these pumpkins for the enrichment class. Luckily it didn't take me as long as I thought it would!
Thanks for coming girls and hope you can all make it next time!

{drumroll please...}

The results are in! I'm glad that the 'eggplant and lime' bouquet won over all seeing as that is the bouquet featured in my actual ad. But, overall, I think it's great that the results ended up being fairly even because that means that each bouquet will appeal to a certain audience when the magazine comes out. Thanks to all who voted! Watch for new posts soon.

{oh me, oh my}

So here's the deal guys. These are my four bouquets and their corresponding descriptions that are going in the 'flowers section' of the magazine that comes out in... less than two months! Yeah! I'm excited to get to have four of my bouquets featured in the section.
So, just for fun, what I want all of you to do is check out these little lovelies, and then cast your vote in the poll (located at the top right-hand corner of the blog) for your favorite! I like all of them so I'm curious to see which one 'wins'. Enjoy!

A bride can’t go wrong with the classic ‘black and white’ wedding. But why not spice it up a little? White hydrangeas and various black-airbrushed stems stand out all the more with accents of magenta and lime. It’s a unique little twist to tradition.
Available at Blossom Sweet Weddings.

Think pink, and love it! If you’re a bride who loves pink, this is the classy and fun way to do it. Two shades of roses, delicate lisianthus, and standout dahlias complete this fresh look.
Available at Blossom Sweet Weddings.

Seasonally ambiguous, this eggplant and lime themed bouquet is perfect for the bride of any season. Lime berries and eggplant fiddlehead fern flawlessly complement the callas, orchids, and roses.
Available at Blossom Sweet Weddings.

Love bright colors that really ‘pop’? Try this gorgeous fall bouquet on for size. Not getting married in the fall? Just trade out the red roses for another color such as fuchsia or coral and you’ve got yourself a bouquet that can work any time of the year.
Available at Blossom Sweet Weddings.

So, get your vote on!
P.S. Love all you blog stalkers

okay okay. I know I just posted this morning. And, I really don't have time to be posting right now. BUT. I just made Allie's temple bouquet for tomorrow morning and I can't resist posting about my excitement! It turned out so beautifully and I am obsessed! I took a picture of it but I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't post my amateur photos on this one because they wouldn't begin to do justice! Just look forward to a post with flowers in the colors of rust, mustard yellow, chocolate brown, and creme with hints of bright orange and green. Sigh. So pretty.
So excited for your wedding tomorrow, Allie, and beyond ecstatic to get the professional pics of this bouquet and all the other beauties I'm working on for you! Gotta go.

{coming soon....}

Well, here is the final proof of my ad! I love it! It will be a full page ad and will come out in the first issue in January, and then in three more issues throughout 2009. I went for simple so it would stand out- hope you guys love it!
Like the photography featured in my ad? Me too! Jonathan Nickle was the talented photographer I entrusted with my ad photos. To contact Jonathan for rates, questions, or availability, email him at

As a side note, look forward to more posting in the next little while. I have four weddings I haven't posted yet (I'm just waiting for the pictures from the photogs); I'll be posting the pictures of the four other bouquets that will be featured in the 'flowers section' of the magazine; and finally, I have Allie's wedding in two days and I CAN'T WAIT to see the final result! It's going to be STUNNINGLY beautiful with Fall colors and some unique elements!

*Special thanks to Jessica for the ad design!*

While I'm not going to use my flower blog to promote my personal political views, I do want to take the opportunity to remind everyone to vote! I feel like we are so lucky to live in a country where we have a voice that actually means something. We should use the power we have.

{i like it i love it!}

{beauty is a process, not an event :) }

The photo shoot for my 2009 magazine ad was this weekend! Although NONE OF THE PICTURES ON THIS POST ARE THE PROFESSIONAL ONES (just my own snapshots), I wanted to give a little preview. Enjoy!

First, we went to Lunatic Fringe in Salt Lake City for hair and makeup. Here are some before and after shots of my lovely bride model, Miss Caitlyn.

The beautification process:
*I've always wanted little ringlets all over my head for my wedding...*

Is that hair not incredible? Want this bomb look? Email hair and makeup artist Zack of Lunatic Fringe at z_norm@hotmail.com
Before the makeup (and still beautiful!)
The amazingly talented Zack and Caitlyn after the completion of the beautification PROCESS.
*Yes, the model in the picture in the background is my very own brother. He is a model!*

The locale of the shoot- can't wait til I get the professional pics! But for now enjoy my own snapshot. Doesn't my little bride model look FABULOUS?
*After the shoot in my front yard*
Loved the hair.
Loved the makeup.
And most importantly, loved the flowers!
Thanks to Zack, Caitlyn, and our photographer, Jonathan (again, these are not his professional pictures) for all the help!!!and p.s. to the cute girl at Lunatic Fringe who loved the flowers and wanted something similar for her upcoming wedding... glad you liked them and look forward to hearing from you! :)

{flashback friday}

The first wedding bouquet I ever made. LOVE IT... it's my favorite not only because I think it's beautiful, but for very personal reasons as well. Love flashback friday. :)

And on a lighter note, this gives a whole new meaning to the words 'flashback friday'. Ha ha. I found a website where you can take a picture of yourself and put it into old yearbook photos from decades ago. Funny! I guess this is what I would've looked like in about 1982. :)

Okay and now I'm off to go work on a big wedding that's tonight. I'm almost done but I need to add some finishing touches! It's going to be bright and beautiful. And this weekend is the photo shoot for the ad! I'm soooooo excited!

Everyone who knows me knows that Fall is my favorite. I love everything Fall! I created an arrangement today of some beautiful flowers in honor of my most favorite season in the world. Love!

{opinionated? welcome.}

The songs on my new blog playlist (see far right column) are the songs I will hypothetically be using on my new website. I love way too many songs I decided. I had to really limit myself so that the playlist would be somewhat cohesive.
What do you think? PLEASE let me know which songs you love, which songs you hate, or any other suggestions you may have as the list isn't necessarily complete. I need some honest opinions!Thanks to those of you who have already offered suggestions! Much appreciated!

{so excited so excited so excited}

I am pleased to announce that (as some of you already know) Blossom Sweet Weddings will be featured in the four 2009 issues of Utah Valley Bride Magazine (70,000 average readership!). I will have a full page ad, and I will be featured as one of few select florists in the 'flower section' of the mag as well. Love! Can't wait! The photo shoot for my ad is in three weeks. I'll keep you posted!

Oh, and a couple of you have inquired about my new upcoming website and why it's not done yet.... I've decided to postpone it until after my ad photo shoot so that I can put some of those pictures up. Give me 4-6 weeks! Thanks!

{what women want}

I went to Europe for three weeks when I was 18 and bought tons of postcards. Tonight I was going through all my old stuff that has been in storage, and I came across a stack of my European postcards. Did I notice a theme? YES! Ha ha it was so funny because although it was before my professional florist days, I guess I just had an affinity for flowers. Almost every postcard had something to do with flowers! I had to chuckle. This one is my favorite. Don't you love it? What woman wouldn't want a pony-tailed male model on a scooter to bring them beautiful blooms?

{soundtrack of l'amour}

Like I said in a previous post, my website is in the process of being updated right now. On my new version, I will be having a soundtrack. I would love to hear suggestions of good love songs! I have a few that I will for sure be using but I am up for suggestions. I love music! What are your favorite lovey dovey tunes?
